Island of Vilm near Rügen
Visit the Island of Vilm: Pure Nature
The Island of Vilm, a true natural gem, is located just 2.5 kilometers south of the Lauterbach harbor (Lauterbacher Hafen) in the Rügischer Bodden lagoon. With a size of 94 hectares, it is one of the smallest yet one of the most impressive islands in the region.
Vilm is known for its unique biodiversity and is one of the last areas in Europe with an almost untouched mixed forest. It was declared a nature reserve in 1990 and is now part of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve.
With its wild beauty, its undisturbed tranquility, and its rich biodiversity, the Island of Vilm is an absolute must for nature lovers and adventurers planning a visit to Putbus (Putbus ) and the surrounding area.
