Natural and bathing beaches on Rügen
Beaches near Lauterbach and Putbus
In the immediate vicinity of Putbus and Lauterbach (Links anpassen!)– away from the crowded Baltic Sea beaches – there are numerous stretches of beach to discover.
200 meters from the Hafenhotel zu Putbus with our Hafenrestaurant Zum kleinen Leuchtturm, there is a small bathing area with a sandy beach, which is ideal for sunbathing and offers the perfect starting point for stand-up paddleboarding.
From here you can also take wonderful walks along the coast and the Greifswalder Bodden, with a view of the island of Vilm (Insel Vilm).
Beach Neuendorf on the island Rügen
Are you looking for a quiet spot away from the main tourist crowds? The idyllically located beach of Neuendorf is one of the smallest and narrowest beaches on the island of Rügen. An insider tip for anyone who values peace and seclusion.
Neuendorf is a charming former fishing village with thatched houses and Rügen’s oldest avenue of willows.
This natural bathing beach is less than 2 km from our Hafenhotel zu Putbus (Link anpassen!) and is also suitable for families with small children, as there are numerous parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. When temperatures are particularly hot, trees by the water provide ample shade.
The gently sloping beach sections offer ideal conditions for long walks along the shore with fantastically beautiful views of the island of Vilm (Insel Vilm).
Goor beach access in Lauterbach
Only about a 10-minute walk from the Hafenhotel zu Putbus (Link anpassen!), the Goor bathing area directly on the Rügischer Bodden invites you to sunbathe, swim, or stand-up paddleboard. A children’s playground provides additional fun for the little ones. Sanitary facilities are available on site, and there is ample parking nearby.
You can reach this small beach section along the Goor Promenade. Here you can linger on wooden benches and fully enjoy the uniquely beautiful nature of southern Rügen.
The Goor bathing area is located on the edge of the beautiful, 7-hectare Goor forest area with the Path of Leisure and Knowledge ( Pfad der Muße und Erkenntnis). Nature lovers and hikers will get their money’s worth here.

Wreechen Bodden beach
Nestled in picturesque natural beauty, surrounded by tranquil waters, lies the small village of Wreechen.
From our Hafenhotel in Lauterbach (Links anpassen!), the 3 km distant beach of Wreechen is easily accessible: on foot, by bicycle, or by car (zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad).
The natural beach impresses with its quiet atmosphere and original beauty. There is a beach toilet and even a fireplace in the immediate vicinity of the Bodden waters. The shallow shore areas and the nearby parking make the beach particularly family-friendly.

Natural beach Groß Stresow
The beach of Groß Stresow is a real insider tip and a hidden gem on the island of Rügen. The surroundings of this small village are characterized by their natural beauty.
The partly fine sandy beach section with a gently sloping shoreline is long but narrow and is located approximately 6 km from our Hafenhotel zu Putbus (Link anpassen).
You can also reach the Groß Stresow beach via a cycling and hiking trail (Fahrrad- und Wanderweg) that leads you past the megalithic tombs near Lancken-Granitz.
A visit to the local ice cream parlor is worthwhile for anyone needing a cool down during hot summer days.

Baltic sea beaches on Rügen
For the classic Baltic Sea beach experience, a short drive to Binz is recommended. The main beach of the Baltic Sea resort of Binz with its pier is particularly popular and well-equipped, with beach chairs, a wide range of water sports activities, and restaurants along the promenade and main street.
Further long sandy beaches can be found in Prora, on the Schaabe peninsula, or between the Baltic Sea resorts of Sellin and Göhren. These are also easily accessible from Putbus (Putbus) and offer ideal conditions for sunbathing and swimming. Nature beach lovers looking for relaxation will therefore feel more comfortable on the quiet natural beaches around Lauterbach (Lauterbach).
